Roman Spörri studied biology at the ETH Zurich and completed his diploma thesis in the laboratory of Rolf Zinkernagel and Hans Hengartner at the University Hospital in Zurich. After an internship at Novartis Pharma AG in Basel, he pursued a PhD in the laboratory of Caetano Reis e Sousa at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK) in London/UK, followed by a short postdoctoral fellowship in the same laboratory. In 2004, he moved back to Switzerland to join the group of Annette Oxenius as a PostDoc at the Institute of Microbiology, ETH Zurich. He became a junior group leader in 2009 and a Senior Scientist in 2014. His research interest is on the activation of dendritic cells and its functional consequences for adaptive immunity.
