Responsibilities of the Doctoral Studies Panel
The Doctoral Studies Panel of the D-BIOL meets once a month. The Doctoral Studies Panel acts on behalf of the Department Conference of the D-BIOL and reports to the Department Conference regularly. The panel is responsible for the following tasks:
- Evaluation of admissions to the doctorate without and with extended doctoral studies
- Approval of co-examiners from ETH Zurich who are not professors of ETH Zurich
- Approval of co-examiners who do not belong to ETH Zurich
- Approval of research work within the doctoral framework conducted outside the ETH domain
- Approval of the doctoral committee
- Appointment of chairs of the aptitude committee
- Evaluation of doctoral theses proposed for distinction
- Elaboration of guidelines for the doctorate at the D-BIOL
