One more ERC Advanced Grant awarded to D-BIOL researcher

As recently became known another professor of the D-BIOL, Antonio Lanzavecchia, receives an ERC Advanced Grant. Three out of eight grants awarded to researchers of ETH Zurich thus go to professors of the Department of Biology.

Prof. Antonio Lanzavecchia

Antonio Lanzavecchia is a professor of immunology at ETH Zurich and the director of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Bellinzona. His research focuses on the human system and addresses the mechanisms of host resistance to pathogens in order to improve vaccine design and develop passive antibody therapies. The goal of the ERC project is to dissect the factors that limit the generation of potent and broadly neutralizing antibodies in response to current vaccines. A second goal is to characterize a new mechanism of antibody diversification through DNA transposition. This is Lanzavecchia’s second ERC Advanced Grant.
