Inhoffen Medal 2023 awarded to Prof. Jörn Piel

The Inhoffen Medal is one of the most prestigious German prizes within the area of natural product research. The Inhoffen lecture and the award ceremony take place since 1994.

The event ist organized in memory of the chemist Prof. Hans Herloff Inhoffen by the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) and the Technical University (TU) Braunschweig. The Inhoffen Medal is awarded by the Friends of the HZI, who sponsor the prize money.

Prof. Jörn Piel of the D-BIOL's Institute of Microbiology will be giving this year's Inhoffen Lecture on 8 June. His group focuses on the discovery and biosynthesis of chemically distinct, bioactive natural products from marine sources.
